It was a <em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/wolf-therapy-ptsd\/\">wolf<\/a><\/strong><\/em>. Out in the wild, Alaskan <a href=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/wolf-therapy-ptsd\/\"><em><strong>wolves<\/strong> <\/em><\/a>can be quite savage. In a dogfight, the wolf would be able to rip Nick&#8217;s pet apart.<\/p>\n<p>Despite his best efforts, his dog slipped from his grasp and ran over to the wolf. Nick&#8217;s heart froze. This could be very bad news indeed. His dog was friendly and lovable and not a fighter at all. The wolf stood its ground.<\/p>\n<p>Nick&#8217;s first thought? How was he going to break the news to his family?<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5197\" src=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Friendly-Wolf-5.jpg\" alt=\"Friendly Wolf\" width=\"885\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The two didn&#8217;t engage immediately, though. Nick assumed the wolf would strike straight away. But it didn&#8217;t. They just stood opposite each other and stared and sniffed. Nick grabbed his camera.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5196\" src=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Friendly-Wolf-4.jpg\" alt=\"Friendly Wolf\" width=\"891\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Soon? The two were playing like old pals!<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5198\" src=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Friendly-Wolf-6.jpg\" alt=\"Friendly Wolf\" width=\"968\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe wolf would bring out toys that he\u2019d stashed.\u00a0One was a Styrofoam float. Romeo would pick it up and bring it to [my friend] Harry to throw. He clearly understood the same sort of behaviors that we see in dogs.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5199\" src=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Friendly-Wolf-7.jpg\" alt=\"Friendly Wolf\" width=\"1062\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe amazing thing was Romeo\u2019s understanding. It wasn\u2019t just our understanding and tolerance. It was the combination of his and ours and the dogs\u2019. We were these three species working out how to get along harmoniously. And we did.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5195\" src=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Friendly-Wolf-3.jpg\" alt=\"Friendly Wolf\" width=\"818\" height=\"896\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Soon, word got around town and people would bring their dogs down to play with Romeo. And there&#8217;s never once been an issue.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5194\" src=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Friendly-Wolf-2.jpg\" alt=\"Friendly Wolf\" width=\"742\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Wonderful!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5193\" src=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/04\/Friendly-Wolf-1.jpg\" alt=\"Friendly Wolf\" width=\"861\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Isn&#8217;t it inspiring to see different species of animal able to get along, play and respect each other&#8230;?
