But not as shocking as the news that zookeepers were forced to shoot a gorilla because of it. Poor <a href=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/new-footage-emerges-of-harambe-the-gorilla-holding-young-boys-hand-and-protecting-him\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>Harambe<\/strong><\/em><\/a> was shot dead as a precaution to protect the child. It was an extremely sad turn of events and one which has seen criticism directed at both the zoo and the <a href=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/outrage-directed-at-parents-in-harambe-the-gorillas-senseless-death\/\" target=\"_blank\"><em><strong>boy&#8217;s parents<\/strong><\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It was an avoidable <a href=\"https:\/\/dailydigest.com\/wrestling-legend-hulk-hogan-dies-at-71\/\">death<\/a>, but one which zookeepers felt compelled to do. But was Harambe definitely a danger? Well, no. A precedent has already been set for such occasions. There was <em><strong>Jambo the gorilla<\/strong><\/em> who guarded a child that fell into his enclosure at <a href=\"http:\/\/dailydigest.com\/jambo-gorilla-boy-jersey-zoo\/\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Jersey Zoo<\/strong><\/a>. And two decades ago, a young child did similar at <em><strong>Brookfield Zoo<\/strong><\/em>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Binti Jua<\/strong> <\/em>was the gorilla who rushed over to the kid.
