He was speaking to British journalist and broadcaster Andrew Marr<\/em><\/strong> while promoting his new movie<\/a> Gold and the subject came up. The Interstellar actor’s thoughts? Liberal elite types in LA need to stop preaching their views onto everyday people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cE<\/em>very single American actor or artsy type who comes over to London dumps on Trump<\/a>. You all completely hate him. Do you think it’s time maybe Hollywood and the culture elite in America gave this guy a break?\u201d<\/em> interviewer <\/strong><\/em>Marr asked…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s the reply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Well, they don’t have a choice now. He’s our president<\/a>. And, it’s very dynamic and as divisive of an Inauguration and time as we’ve had. At the same time, it’s time for us<\/a> to embrace and shake hands with this fact. And be constructive with him over the next four years.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“So anyone, even those who may strongly disagree with his principles or things he’s said and done \u2014 and that’s another thing, we’ll see what he does compares to what he has said \u2014 no matter how much you even disagreed along the way, it’s time to think about how constructive can you be.”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201c’Cause he’s our president for the next four years, at least, the President of the United States.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s refreshing to finally hear a little sense from a big celebrity. We don’t back or oppose President Trump. But you have to at least give his administration a chance. We’re with McConaughey on this one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
