It’s long been suggested that cannabis <\/a>may have untold health<\/a> benefits. And that’s a rumor that turned out to be true when GPs and doctors began being able to prescribe what became known as ‘medical marijuana’ to people – mainly as pain<\/a> relief. But campaigners have long insisted that weed can go even further and actually help in the fight against cancer<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And now the US<\/a> Government agrees.<\/p>\n

The National Institute on Drug Abuse has just released a report which states that the cannabinoids found in cannabis can kill cancer cells <\/a>and even shrink one of the most serious types of brain\u00a0tumors.<\/p>\n

The new report says: “Recent animal studies have shown that marijuana extracts may help kill certain cancer cells and reduce the size of others.”<\/em><\/p>\n

“Evidence from one animal study suggests that extracts from whole-plant marijuana can slow the growth of cancer cells from one of the most serious types of brain\u00a0tumors. “<\/em><\/p>\n

“Research in mice showed that these extracts, when used with radiation, increased the cancer-killing effects of the radiation.”<\/em><\/p>\n
